Bio
Wendy Keeling grew up in Bloomington, Illinois. As a young girl she was drawn to anything and everything creative, from performing to the visual arts. She began acting as a child in local theater and fell in love with the stage. She also has an extensive background in music. She played alto sax among other woodwind instruments and was the drum major in both high school and college. Many thought that music would be her career path. But an itch to be on stage led her to Chicago in search of an audience. She took acting classes, did some modeling, and worked at an improv theater for years. Finally when nothing seemed to be coming of her trials she picked up and moved to the islands.
Wendy spent many fantastic years in Key West, Florida,
the place she calls home. The laid back island lifestyle
was a perfect place for her to land. A fan of the water,
and the free thinking island life it was a natural fit for
her. It seems she found herself on this small 3 by 5 mile
island bartending for a living and working at the local
college in the art department. Her tropical lifestyle
helped her find new outlets for her creativity.
Wendy became an accomplished multimedia artist
while living in the Keys. She began working with
ceramics, stone, paint, wood, metal, and glass. Basically
anything she could get her hands in and get dirty. Her
art work tends to be sculptural or abstract and she
seldom stays clean in the studio for long. On a chance
meeting she was asked to act in a couple commercials.
This started a new path for Wendy working in film.
She worked on several commercial projects and then
was asked to work on an international marketing
campaign for a documentary that debuted at the
Showtime Room at the Sundance Film Festival. This
was the beginning of the “other”side of Wendy.
The production side.
Wendy found her way back to acting while living in Nashville, Tn. She is drawn to complex characters and enjoys the opportunity to play a broad age range and character type. In addition Wendy started writing, directing, and producing her own film projects and has become an award winning Director/ Producer. A jack of many trades, Wendy’s skills range from Acting, Directing, Casting, Set Design, Producer, Production Manager, and Film Festival juror & screener.
Recently she relocated to Florida and is living just outside of Jacksonville near Amelia Island. Here she plans to continue her artwork, acting, and filmmaking. Wendy also became a Co-Founder and the Creative Director for The Loudoun Arts Film Festival in Virginia.
